Who is Silent Hiker?
For many years I hiked in the same small area over the same few trails. When I branched out I was inspired by the new scenery and the little oddities I found on the trail. Now I hike anywhere within a three hour drive of my home base, almost always hiking a different trail. Hiking has become a major part of my life – a day long vacation from noise, technology and civilization. Finding solitude in a natural setting and turning off the ever-running commentary of the mind can generate some truly magical moments.
Disclaimer: While I almost always hike solo, due to the litigious nature of our society I can’t recommend it. Trail conditions and directions may change due to closed trails, bad storms, etc. While directions I provide were accurate, to the best of my memory, at the time of their original writing, they may have changed. Trail distances are taken from guidebooks, maps, trail signs and other reliable sources. I do not accept any responsibility for any inconvenience, loss, damage, injury or death resulting from the use of this website. In addition to the information provided here, you should also do your own research. Check other sources to confirm my information. Always check the local conditions and acknowledge your personal limitations. Be smart, be careful, and be silent on the trail.
