This was not the trail I expected to take on this day. I planned to go west just a bit to see a waterfall in Newton Canyon. When I arrived at the falls they were so unspectacular that I thought the real falls must lay somewhere ahead. I continued to hike all the way to Encinal Canyon Road, well beyond the two waterfalls marked on my map. I was happy with the day nevertheless.
Heading west and looking back toward Kanan Dume. I watched this cloud float past and then break up in a swirling wind.
Traveling through Newton Canyon.
Through the mist a huge boulder balances upright, reminiscent of the one I saw on my last hike, Balanced Rock.
I headed back to my car and called it a day.
