I was really looking forward to getting back to the San Gabriel Mountains, off of the Angeles Crest Highway specifically, and this hike did not disappoint. The trails through Colby Canyon and up to Strawberry Peak just re-opened. The views are awesome and I am now able to recognize many of the peaks and landmarks in the area.
Up in Goleta this week. I hiked two trails, one not so great and the other fantastic. I have seen this area before, but from a distance while climbing away and up into the mountains. It was nice to get down closer to the coast and see things a little more closely.
A hike typical of the Agoura Hills/Calabsas area – lots of grassy rolling hills dotted with oaks. The route I followed was full of trail changes but there were very few trail markers that had actual names. I was lucky that I guessed right on each trail change despite incorrect advice from everyone I asked. Good day.
