Tough but rewarding hike on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The scenery is incredible, some of the rocky beach terrain terrible to hike on. A unique experience for me. I’ll be back soon.
In the Santa Barbara/Santa Ynez area for this hike. The loop consists of two very different halves, first a fire road that rises out of the canyon and provides nice views, followed by a rougher trek next to the Santa Ynez River with numerous crossings. At the end of both legs there was a special treat, first Gibraltar Dam and Reservoir, and then a swimming hole beneath the big “Red Rock” for which the loop is named. Good day!
Fun day hiking short trails in Ventura County. In order, I hiked the trails at: 1) Mission Oaks Park in Camarillo 2) Stagecoach Inn and Museum in Newbury Park 3) Conejo Valley Botanic Garden in Thousand Oaks 4) Gardens of the World in Thousand Oaks 5) Oak Canyon Community Park in Oak Park 6) Medea Creek Park in Oak Park. These short hikes always have a lot to see and it’s a lot of fun to hike them all in one day.
