Easy to get to hike in Ojai. There are two routes to get to Nordhoff Peak from town – Gridley Trail and Pratt Trail. I have read that Gridley is the longer, rockier but more scenic trail, while Pratt, the route I took, is shorter and steeper. It was a tough hike, around 11 1/2 miles long, but the natural beauty of Ojai has few rivals in Southern California.
A good hike in the Santa Clarita area with several interesting things to see. The one issue I have is that approximately 70% of this hike is on paved road. The feel of the hike is typical for this area, that is it has a sort of industrial feel with it’s history of ranching and oil production.
I hiked up to Dirt Mulholland and Topanga State Park from the Valley side. Nice, mellow day.
